You have just said a fact that sadly few Singaporeans can understand.

I do sincerely implore poor Singapore to visit and take a good look at the third world countries around us. Malaysia, the Riau Archipelagoes, Vietnam and those all the way down to Thailand and China offer plenty of hopes to poor Singaporeans.

Singaporeans in yesteryears had enjoy similar simple happy lives. Unfortunately, even the most frugal Singaporeans today will find survival a great challenge and it will be worsening as time progresses.

Another aspect that works against Singaporeans is their 'updated' materialistic mentality. It is not an exaggeration to say that poor Singaporeans themselves take themselves as 'first world class' when comparing themselves to third world people. This self labelled and self classified 'high class feelings' make the Singaporeans unwelcome abroad. Do be mindful.

Anyway, money hardly equals happiness, it is easy to verify this point; look at your rich friends, relatives and colleague, how happy are they?
